CALF QUEST 2004
Sale Summary

Planning for Calf Quest 2004 began in January and took us as far as Indiana to screen calves for this year's sale.

It all came together and culminated Saturday, December 4 at the Farmers Livestock Auction, Boonville, MO with forty-five lots consigned to this year's sale with almost fifty buyers signing up for buyer's numbers.

Prior to the sale, everyone is looking for that calf that will end their "calf quest" for the 2005 show season.

All twelve heifers consigned sold with $1800, the highest selling lot consigned by John and Patsy Watt, Rocheport, MO going to Meagan Syphrett, Eldorado, KS.

Cody Mundell, Browning, MO took home the highest selling steer at $1575 consigned by Kalen Miller, Newton, MO. Eighty-four per cent of this year's consignments sold from the auction block averaging $1108 per head. Five others sold after the sale. As in year's past, the consignors set the floor price for each of their calves.

Gary Reichel, one of the sale managers/consultants is caught visiting with consignors, Patsy Watt and Mrs. Syphrett.

Consignors, Matt and Andrea Fischer, visit while putting away equipment. They sold three steers that will be eligible to compete at this year's American Junior Simmental Association National Classic XXV in July at the Missouri State Fairgrounds in Sedalia, MO.

The sale would never get off the ground without the two guys that started it all, Gary Reichel and Kevin Johansen. Gary is giving the opening talk. Mike Williams, Higginsville, is the auctioneer. Dean Reichel is the clerk.

Office personnel include Mom Reichel and Mom Johansen visiting with Dean.

Behind the scenes help was provided by Dad Reichel and Dad Johansen. Ringmen were Clint Hunter and Jesse Bolin.

Tins of popcorn and boxes of cookies were given as attendance prizes and winning a $50 gift certificate off the purchase price of an animal was Meagan Syphrett of Eldorado, KS. Accepting the certificate was Gerald Syphrett, pictured here with Dean Reichel.
