Calf Quest - Annual Club Calf Sale

CALF QUEST 2003
Sale Summary

Pictured are Mike Williams as auctioneer, Dean Reichel as clerk, Jesse and Dustin Johansen as ringmen; and Kevin and Gary in sale ring with high selling heifer.

The Calf Quest Club Calf Sale 2003 saw another year of growth. There was an increase of over fifty per cent of buyer numbers distributed from the 2002 sale. Calf Quest sale managers, Kevin Johansen and Gary Reichel, enlisted the services of Mike Williams, an auctioneer from Higginsville, MO who conducts the "Sale of Champions" at the Missouri State Fair and professional ringman, Jesse Bolin. Attendance prizes were again awarded to at least a dozen in attendance.

Calves averaged $910 per head. The high selling heifer (Lot#22), consigned by John and Patsy Watt, Rocheport, was sold to Larry Day, Pilot Grove for $1550. Two steers, one consigned by AgWeb, Jon and Marcia Webster, Princeton, and the other consigned by Brent Murphy, Houstonia, sold for $1100 each. Buyers were David Bennett, Hughesville, who purchased a sibling to Webster's "Cheap Trick" steer he had purchased at the Calf Quest Club Calf Sale in 2002 and the other went to Ben Bolton of Hughesville.
